Meeting the Lawyer

On this day it was interesting we got to meet a lawyer his name was Howard Arnett he was talking a lot about the fish going through the dam and then he started to talk about the treaty that happened in 1855 and that treaty was down the river a bit. he is in business law and it was really that interesting. Summer steelhead are labeled as 'threatened' by the ESH. There are 650,000 acres of the area there are only 5,300 are enrolled there and 80% live on or around the rez. 1957 the Pelton dam and powerhouse 1954 the construction started, 1964 Round Butte dam and powerhouse made, 1982 Reregulating dam powerhouse made all of these were confusing but pretty cool when I knew what he was talking about. Other than that I barely got anything he was saying he was talking about the dams and what happened there and around there I couldn't get interested in what he was saying. I don't think I could ever get into being a lawyer. I think I'd rather be a doctor still.

The day of the volcano

So on this day we went to the Newberry volcanic monument and it was pretty fun we learned so much about the rocks there and how they formed and so much stuff related to that. It was very interesting the tour guide was telling me that the volcano went through the spot we hiked. By the way we went on a hike and we heard so much about lava and the rocks that they formed the way the looked. It wasn't very complicated to learn how they worked the lava on top froze or cooled down and turned black and smoothed itself out. We also went to a cave and went all the way through well not all the way through but we got to go to the point where you had to crawl on your stomach all the way through but we did not do that because the cave had a sign not to do that. This is not a picture of the volcano but this is one of the best pictures that reminded me of the volcano.

The hike through the cave was very interesting there were signs telling you about lava shelves, and it got interesting because it involved lava and that is so interesting to me in so many ways. Learning about what has gone through that cave helped me understand what the lava did when it went through the parts where the caves have formed. I also learned that there are different forms of rocks that the lava could form I didn't get the names of the rocks though.

Figuring stuff out!

This was very good past few days I was pretty interested in the things we were learning. I learned so much these people we met on Monday was really cool it was very easy to follow. I liked that we got to do things that day and yesterday was a good day and I could follow what the people said. I got to learn more about the volcano we visited I thought it was very interesting that there was a lot to see there. I learned that there is a lot more to than just being a supervisor and just taking care of what is easy. I learned that it could be hard being in natural resources and there is a lot to jobs in that range. I've always had my mind set on being a doctor but these past few days I started to think that I could have a different job also if I wanted to. So doing this kind of helps me think about different kinds of jobs I could have for one I could be a fire fighter and it would take a lot to just be in that kind of job.


Today we talked to a guy that worked in law and I got tired but I still tried my best to get mental notes, and it all helped. I learned so much these past few days and we got to on a few hikes. I really loved those hikes there was so much to learn and one of the hikes we went on wasn't very informational but was fun. The other hike we went on was fun and educational I got to learn so much for one I got to figure out what fuels were that and what 1hr 10hr 100hr 1000hr fuels were. I didn't think I was going to learn this much just in this much time I thought it was going to be harder to learn lately. After all of this stuff we did in the woods talking to firefighters we went to a seed extractor factory I didn't get a word the said so I was confused.
